About us

Happy House Daycare was opened in 2008, Uta Squire had just finished building her new house and the entire 2000sqft basement to accommodate her day home. However, there were too many children and she decided to become a licensed facility. From there she hired Tamara Van Happen and they began their journey. The original license was 2 Educators and 13 children. By the time August 2011 rolled around they had far surpassed that. They had become a licensed and accredited program and were at 7 Educators and 35 children. With the phone ringing off the hook each day with parents begging to join the program it was time for a move. Uta contacted the Northern Lights School Division and signed the lease for one year to take over the old Grand Center Middle School. With a very short time limit they renovated the school and moved in August 26, 2011 with 20 Educators and 64 children. As it stands as of February 2014 we currently have 32 Educators, 215 children and 11 classrooms. Happy House Daycare now leases the entire school, all of which is daycare.

Happy House Daycare was honored on February 21,2014 to win the business of the year award for 10 and over employees! We have come so far in these short 6 years and it isn't without a ton of support, hard work, amazing Educators and families! So thank-you for making this all possible!

Happy House Daycare provides breakfast, lunch and snack all based on the Canadian food guide. We have a play through learn philosophy that all planning is based off of the children’s interests. By teaching this way your children are learning all their cognitive, fine-gross motor, social and language skills but in a way that they can understand. With such a large facility the children have spacious classrooms, a large gym, a smaller toddler/infant gym and two separate fenced in outdoor areas backing onto soccer fields, as well as the playground right next door. All Educators hired on here have to have their certification within 6 months of hire and all a clean criminal record check along with first aid in child care. All Educators hired have some form of education pertaining to child care.
